Server move
August 24th, 2008
Yesterday i went to the DC to move my server from one rack to an other. All went very smooth. In the meanwhile, i’m installing a new webserver that will replace the current one eventually.
It’s a Dell 2650 with 2x 2.4Ghz Xoen cpu’s and 4GB Ram. I’m planning on hosting some VPS’es on it and i’m testing with Xen and OpenVZ.
If someone has some expierence with one or both, let me know what you think. It will be used to run Linux VPS’es only.

August 26th, 2008 at 12:24 AM Which OS? Have some experience with Centos/RHEL 5 and xen, would like to test it also with debian /ubuntu but haven't come around to do it yet ...
August 28th, 2008 at 12:37 PM I'm testing Xen on Ubuntu now and OpenVZ on Debian. Xen on Ubuntu works fine, but Xen itself only provides 2.6.18 kernels and is optimized for that. So if you want to go with Xen i would recommend Centos. I'll probably use OpenVZ because it has much less overhead than Xen. And if you only need Linux VPS's i think it is the better choice. In the meanwhile didn't have enough time to test it in depth. More later....
